I've always wanted to get a Brazilian wax done.  I'm scared, though.  How does it work?

I love it that you asked that.  People ask me this all the time.

First of all, I want to assure you that the result will be totally worth it, especially if you routinely return for monthly maintenance.

I will be completely honest with you about the process and what it will feel like and how it works.

The first time is always the most shocking because your hair in that area is quite course.  At your first appointment, the hair needs to be long enough, because hair grows in the three different stages (acting, resting, growth).  The stage your hair need to be at is called the "growth" stage, which is approximately two to thee weeks of growth.  In other words, you will have to refrain from shaving for 2-3 weeks.

1.  When you come in for your first Brazilian appointment, please be natural (i.e.: no lotions or oils) and relaxed.  It's to be going okay.

2.  After you are undressed from the waste down, I provide a clean and plump towel and heated bed for your relaxation and to cover up with.

3.  Once we're ready to begin, I use a variety of different waxes, applying them to the areas that hair removal is requested in a clean and sanitary method.  Depending on the amount and texture of the hair, the procedure should only take 10-15 minutes, with no more than 4-6 "pulls" (strips or areas where wax is applied).

4.  I will use a high end oil over the waxed and exfoliated area that is suited best for your skin type to prevent clogging of the pore as well as ingrown hairs.  High frequency light therapy can also be used to prevent break out or inflammation. Everyone's skin is different, and I do carry product to prevent ingrown hairs.

There is a big difference between wax and technique for all aestheticians.  My method is to get your Brazilian done in as few "pulls" as possible, done quickly, and as painless as possible.  Will it be uncomfortable, especially the first time you get a Brazilian?  Yes.  However, the results are completely worth it and if you keep up with the maintenance of it, it will eventually become easier and easier.

I have many clients who come to me specifically for my Brazilian wax, because they appreciate my method and the results are fabulous.  I'm honestly an expert at distracting my clients during their waxing, and most of them end up laughing throughout the appointment.
